Here is Grandma Jessie’s stuffed cabbage recipe as scribbled down with many notes and corrections by Johanne/Mom/Grandma Johanne. The options (tomatoes, tomato soup, or ketchup and water) reflect Grandma Jessie’s ability to adapt a recipe to whatever she had on hand–including ginger snaps. She loved ginger snaps and I think added them to recipes on the slightest excuse.
