Aunt Clara’s Bread
From Johanne’s Aunt Clara. This is a confusing one. I’m not sure where the oil and water come in. Anybody with more bread-baking experience, please chime in. 🙂

Aunt Clara’s Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cakes yeast
- 2 tsp salt
- 6 eggs
- 10 cups flour
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- Bring milk to scald; let cool. When lukewarm, add sugar and yeast.
- While yeast is dissolving, beat 6 room-temperature eggs. Add to yeast mixture.
- Add 10 cups of flour.
- Knead the dough. When it is like rubber in consistency, cover with dish towel and let rise for about 1 1/2 hours.
- Punch down the dough. Let rise again.
- Put dough on floured surface and shape into loaves or rolls.
- Put in pans and let rise again.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes (?)
