Grandma Jessie’s Sugar Cookie Recipe
This is the sugar cookie recipe that Johanne’s mom, our Grandma Jessie, used to make her famous thumbprint cookies.

Grandma Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter (1/2 lb.)
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Blend butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender or fork, working the ingredients until they resemble cornmeal.
- Add unbeaten eggs and flavoring. Chill the dough.
- Roll out dough very thin on floured board and cut out with cookie cutters into various shapes.
- Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet in preheated 400° oven for 5-8 minutes.
